Only in Philadelphia could the local baseball team be preparing for Game 1 of the World Series and still have local sports sites talking about football.
The unbeaten Eagles host the regularly-beaten Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon in the middle of the Philadelphia Sports Apocalypse. Despite turning most of their attention to the World Series, John and Joe took time to make picks for Sunday’s game.
John (4-2-0): Oh, yeah…there’s a football team in Philly. Not a baseball team or even a fùtbol team…but the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles have had over a week to dial up something special for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dial up something, they will. Look for Jalen Hurts to feed a steady stream of passes to Smith and Brown, opening up a big lead early in the first half. I know, we’ve seen it before… but if it ain’t broke? Given the Alvin Kamara rumors, it would not be surprising to see Miles Sanders with extra moxie and a touchdown this week.
On defense, I expect defensive line vets coming off the bye to feast on the Steelers’ unstable QB situation, opening up opportunities for defensive backs like James Bradberry to cash in. This will be the easiest game a Philly team plays this weekend. Eagles 28, Steelers 18.
Offensive Standout: DeVonta Smith
Defensive Standout: James Bradberry
Joe (2-4-0): Phils in six. Eagles 31, Steelers 10.
Offensive Standout: A.J. Brown
Defensive Standout: Haason Reddick
