Week 12 Quick Picks: Eagles vs. Seahawks

The NFL was kind enough to give us an extra day over the holiday weekend without Eagles football, but tonight, the Birds host the Seattle Seahawks in a battle of two teams with bird-related nicknames and…well, that’s about where the similarities end.

As a service to the community, the guys offer their predictions below on how the game will turn out so that you don’t have to tune in. Joe won last week, so he goes first this week.

Joe (5-1-4): Back on top where I belong!! I feel like I say this every week, but the Eagles are not a good football team. But you know who else isn’t a good football team? The Seahawks defense!

Seattle has the worst defense in the league in terms of yards allowed per game, checking in at an embarrassing 434.9 yards per game, nearly 20 more than the Jacksonville Jaguars. Their passing defense is leaps and bounds worse than anyone else in the NFL, giving up a truly staggering 343.7 yards per game through the air. That includes games against Kirk Cousins and Nick Mullens. That’s awful!

On the flip side, the Seahawks allow just 91.2 yards per game on the ground, third-fewest in the league. Whatever, who cares; the Eagles don’t run the ball anyway.

Unfortunately, the Seahawks’ weakness is something the Eagles aren’t equipped to capitalize on; at least, they haven’t shown an ability to capitalize on it to this point, and after 10 games, the cake is baked and you are what you are. And what the Eagles are is, all together now: a bad football team.

I don’t think the Eagles win this game, but I don’t think they get destroyed, either. Well, collectively; I think DK Metcalf will be the talk of local sports radio this week along the lines of “DK Metcalf was on the board and all we got was a J.J. Arcega-Whiteside.” Metcalf gets at least one, maybe two touchdowns, and the result isn’t really in too much doubt after halftime. Seahawks 27, Eagles 16.

Offensive Standout: DK Metcalf

Defensive Standout: Bobby Wagner

John (1-5-4): Welcome back to our recurring segment: “Are the Eagles going to win this week?” The magic eight ball has been stuck on “reply hazy, try again” thus far. Going forward, expect the answer to be “Outlook not so good.” This is an inept team that could run away with the NFC East if they were at least ept, but alas here we are at 3-6-1.

The average Eagles fan does not know more about NFL football than Doug Pederson, Carson Wentz, Howie Roseman, or any of the players who failed to tackle Nick Chubb in Cleveland. Philly does know when effort is minimal and a team is cooked. Stick a fork in this season and expect Seattle to romp in Philly like Mike McMahon is behind center.  Seahawks 38, Eagles 10.

Offensive Standout: Russell Wilson

Defensive Standout: Carson Wentz
